Rublev Colours Pozzuoli Red is a semi-transparent deep orange red earth with warm undertones, medium grained with good tinting strength and brushes "long." Our red earth comes from quarries in Northern Italy. The red iron oxide or ferric oxide is the principal coloring agent in Pozzuoli Red. This color is based on the natural mineral hematite associated with varying proportions of other minerals such as clay, chalk, and silica.
